There's something solid about DC. Seedy -- Snobby -- Savage -- as it can be, there is always the feeling of purposeful permanence. In a city that enfolds so many transients and so much building into its mix it's ironic that things as they are today (for better or worse) most always seem like they will be the same tomorrow.
